we need more quality films with well-written, strong storylines and fully developed characters in nonstereotypical roles. kings of the evening delivers. the ensemble cast of well know faces - lynn whitfield, glynn turman, tyson beckford, reginald dorsey - can hold its own against any quality hollywood fare. it's an intelligent and entertaining story of triumph over adversity, and the strength of relationships and courage. in times like these, we could all learn a thing or two about navigating life through the great depression. set in 1936, the movie is a moving testament to a time when people actually seemed to matter, and to care for, and about one another.
